Xiaomi Set to Announce It’s First Metallic Phone On July 22nd

XiaoMi Steel Invite

XiaoMi, ever since the acquisition of former Google executive Hugo Barra, has seen noticeable improvements not just in sales, quality of smartphones, but in market coverage as well.

And after numerous huge moves like entering several eastern markets and increasing it’s production of products, it looks like it’s time for XiaoMi to kick it up a notch as the company just sent out steel invites which suggests that the manufacturer is finally ready to compete head to head with all the top OEMs with a super-flagship on it’s own.

There’s no specifics regarding XiaoMi’s first metallic phone yet, but judging by the invite, which is made of steel and is 5 inches in size, we’re guessing a 5-incher with 1080p Full HD display, either a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801/805 processor, 3GB of RAM, 16GB/32GB of internal storage options, a 13MP/5MP camera combo, and a 2,500-5,900mAh battery. It’s also expected to retail for about CNY1,999 which translates to about $322 USD.

Take note that nothing is certain at this point, except maybe for the fact that the device will obviously run on MIUI like all other XiaoMi devices out there, which is a forked version of Android. We’ll keep you updated.
