XiaoMi just announced it’s first ever Android tablet offering – the MiPad. And it’s looking to be a beast of a device! And like what we came to know about most XiaoMi devices, it is priced at a way lower cost than what most manufacturer would have priced it. Now that’s another hot tablet to watch out for!
Looking at the design, it seems like XiaoMi used the iPad Mini as an inspiration for the MiPad’s design as they look almost the same if not for the MiPad’s colorful plastic back. And another similarities that you can find between the two is that both tablets feature the same 2048 x 1536 resolution display.
Heading over at the specs, we’re looking at a 7.9-inch display with a whopping 2048 x 1536 resolution (326 ppi), powered by Nvidia’s latest Tegra K1 processor, a quad-core Cortex A15 processor clocked at 2.2 Ghz with a Kepler Desktop-class GeForce GPU. The MiPad packs 2GB of RAM, 16GB/32GB of internal storage expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card slot, an 8MP/5MP camera combo, and a 6,700mAh battery. Now that’s a beast tablet right there.
The XiaoMi MiPad, being a XiaoMi device, will be running on Android 4.4.2 KitKat With MIUI on top of it, and will be priced at only 1,499 Yuan (about $240) for the 16GB variant, and 1,799 Yuan (about $290) for the 32GB variant. The MiPad will become available starting next month in green, turquiose, pink, black and white color options. There’s now word yet regarding this great device’s availability but since XiaoMi is starting to expand to reach more markets, there’s a big chance to see the device being sold outside China. We’ll keep you updated.
