After a series of big handheld devices like the Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia Z1, Sony is set to release another big handset device that will sport a 6-inch display – the Sony Tianchi.
The Tianchi is reported to use an 8-core Cortex A7 chip from Mediatek instead of a quad core Snapdragon 800, and will have a 720p screen, which makes it a 16:9 device instead of a 16:10 one, which is a ratio usually reserved for tablets.
The Cortex A7 is a chip usually meant for the low-end to mid-range of smartphones, but the Mediatek chip has 8 Cortex A7 cores that will work full time whenever they are needed.
We expect the Xperia Tianchi to be officially announced along with other devices at Sony’s main event on November 12th along with other devices like the Xperia Z1S.
