Sony has successfully surprised it’s US fans as the company quietly made the Xperia Z1 Compact available on it’s website. It’s no secret the the US isn’t Sony’s ‘favorite’ market, but they do announce a device from time to time and they never disappoint.

Despite being called ‘Compact,’ the Xperia Z1 Compact isn’t the same as your typical ‘mini’ device as the device boasts of the exact same high-end specs as it’s big brother, the Z1.

We’re looking at a smaller 4.3-inch Triluminos display, a 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, a 20.1MP/2MP camera combo, and a 2,300mAh battery. The Z1 Compact runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean at the time of it’s launch, but is now upgradeable to the latest Android 4.4.4 KitKat.

The Sony Xperia Z1 Compact will be a delight for those who are looking for a high-end phone that features a smaller display without having to sacrifice any downgrades. You can get the Xperia Z1 Compact on Sony Mobile’s website, and is available in black, green, pink, and white color options and carries a $549 price tag.
