Sprint Reveals Several Samsung Galaxy Devices To Receive The Android 4.4.2 KitKat Update


Sprint has revealed today via it’s newsroom several Samsung Galaxy devices that are set to receive the Android 4.4 KitKat treatment in the near future. Included in the list are the already updated Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S4, and soon to follow are the Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy S4 Mini, Galaxy S3, Galaxy Mega, and the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0.

The US network carrier also detailed a number of changes that will come with the above devices for a better user experience:

  • Location Menu: An integrated location menu enables users to easily activate GPS, Wi-Fi and mobile networks, while simultaneously checking the battery usage of apps running location service capabilities.
  • Enhanced Messaging: Hangouts now includes SMS and MMS and a larger assortment of updated Emoji icons.
  • Upgraded Google Mobile Service™ (GMS) apps: Users can automatically back up photos and video and can open, view, rename and share Google Docs and files.
  • Updated Lock Screen Features: The lock screen now allows users to quickly access the camera with a new shortcut and view album art while music is playing.

This, along with our previous report just confirms that the much awaited KitKat update for a number of popular Samsung Galaxy devices is indeed coming and it’s just around the corner.
