When it comes to the latest Samsung rumors and leaks, where else do we go to? Of course, none other than ETNews. Today, the Korean media company has given us some pretty exciting specifications and news about the new Samsung Galaxy S5.
ETNews said that Samsung will start the Galaxy S5’s mass production in January, making way for a February or March launch. It will be two or three months ahead of Samsung’s schedule, but the company wants to get the jump on the competition.
ETNews also claimed that there will be two variants of the S5, a premium model with a 5-inch flexible Active Matrix (AM) Organic light emitting DIODE (OLED) flexible display and a metal casing, and a standard model that sports a 5-inch AMOLED flat panel display with a plastic case. Giving you the option to choose between a metal and plastic casing which a lot of Samsung users has been requesting for.
Both models will have a 64-bit processor, 3GB of RAM, a 16MP camera, with no word if it will will have the Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) on board or not. The S5 is also said to pack a whopping 4,000mAH battery. The S5 is expected to run Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box with an updated version of TouchWiz. There was no mention of a fingerprint scanner or eye scanner built-in to the new Galaxy S5.
The production in January is said to start with 800,000 to 1 million units, which will increase to 6 million units in February and 8-10 million in March depending on sales. To help with the revenue, Samsung plans to offer accessories along with the Galaxy S5 and one of them will be the new version of Galaxy Gear that will be released the same time as the Galaxy S5 like they did with the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear.
