It’s no secret that during the past couple of years, Qualcomm and its Adreno GPUs have conquered the smartphone market, offering impressive specs and excellent graphic performance, especially the Adreno 330 GPU that comes as a package with Snapdragon 800 SoC, the most powerful SoC at this time in the smartphone market.
From the looks of it, Qualcomm plans to further extend its dominance, thus providing an even more powerful graphics processing unit, codenamed Adreno 400! This GPU will probably come along the new Snapdragon SoC’s that will appear in 2014 and according to unconfirmed rumors, it is going to be unveiled during CES 2014 in Las Vegas, US.
The same unconfirmed rumors insist that this new GPU will offer superior performance (higher than 3,6 gigapixels/sec that Adreno 330 offers now) but it will not support OpenCL technology. We still have no official info, so you’d better take it with a pinch of salt guys…
