With less than 24 hours since Google announced the Nexus 5, Chainfire (who else) released the CF-Auto-Root tool for it. We must thank Chainfire for his commitment to the Android community.
For rooting your brand new Nexus 5, all you have to do is to boot into bootloader mode (by pressing VolUp+VolDown+Power buttons at the same time), connect your device to your PC and execute one of the below commands:
- Run root-windows.bat (if you are usind Windows)
- chmod +x root-linux.sh
- Run root-linux.sh
For Mac OS X:
- chmod +x root-mac.sh
- Run root-mac.sh
Pretty easy don’t you think? But have in mind that if your Nexus 5 is not unlocked this procedure will wipe all your data.
You can read more and download the needed files from here.
Once again all credit goes to Chainfire for his awesome work.
