Cover – a smarter lock screen

Cover is not a ordinary lock screen app. Ok, it lets you easily access your most used apps, but it also learns by itself. Depending on what time of the day it is or where you are, Cover will modify the lock screen shortcuts list accordingly. Navigation apps when you’re in your car, Calendar or Gmail at work, entertainment apps at home, morning apps and evening apps.

With its own easy to use app-switching feature, the app can only display six icons at a time on your screen, but you can easily find more by swiping on the right side of the display. To preview the apps you don’t even have to unlock your screen.

Cover’s development team is not interested in taking over your Android experience, their goal is to enhance it. Most users already have shortcuts and widgets layed out to their preference. This is why the team didn’t want to replace the home screen with a full launcher alternative, like seen in many different lock screen apps.

The app is still a work in progress and for now invite-only. Most questions are raised regarding the app’s use of resources and security. It checks your location and what apps you use, but the company assures all shared data from your phone to Cover’s servers is encrypted. Optional is also to provide your email address for app sync across multiple devices.

Cover will be free of charge, because the main priority is to share the app among as many people as possible. For more information about Cover visit their official website.
