Android 4.4.2 Update For The Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition Now Available

KitKat 4.4.2

Good news Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition owners, as today marks the day your device starts getting the latest Android 4.4.2 update. Keep in mind that the OTA update rolls out one by one depending on your region so don’t fret if your software update option tells you that there’s no available update yet.

Aside from the OS upgrade, there were patches and fixes made specifically for the Galaxy S4 GPE as well. First is the fix to the 3G icon bug where your status bar shows the 3G icon instead of the H icon when you are on a HSPA/HSPA+ connection. The transparent statusbar seen from the Nexus 5 has been applied as well along with a polished dialer interface. There’s also some camera enhancements that improved the long startup time, image quality, and the addition of three camera resolution options, 2MP (16:9), 1 MP, and 720 x 480px.
